SaaS Planview HUB: ROI of 150% through seamless toolchain integration and data silo connection

Technology organizations are currently under enormous pressure to be able to deliver greater added value to their customers at fixed capacities in ever shorter intervals. In some cases, competitors are able to demonstrate ever shorter lead times from transfer to provision and lower error rates for changes to applications. Customer expectations in this regard have therefore risen significantly, forcing companies to subject their IT in particular to agile transformation. Today, all solutions must be cloud-capable, scalable, networked and secure. International collaboration, complex supply chains and globally distributed teams are on the rise and are becoming increasingly important, especially in technology companies. It is particularly important to optimize the workflow and reduce frictional losses at the same time.

The challenge

Successful connection of data silos and differently specialized tools

The daily work in many companies is characterized by numerous inefficiencies. Employees spend many hours every year entering data twice and making manual handovers – tedious, error-prone and inefficient work. Many companies are striving to optimize their development processes. This includes increasing agility in product development, real-time generation of project information and effortless access to important KPIs.

In the past, the aim was to use a development platform that could unite and cover all phases in order to enable data exchange. Today, however, there is specialized software from different providers for each phase of the familiar DevOps approach. Despite this development, however, there is no overarching data exchange between these different software solutions and the current approach still involves many manual updates. However, companies continue to strive for seamless integration of tools, data and processes to improve collaboration and increase efficiency. These measures aim to promote innovation, reduce response times and increase the overall performance of their development processes. This raises the question of how automation can help to make the software development process more efficient.

The solution

Automation of non-value-adding activities through evosoft SaaS based on Planview Hub

The synchronization of data between planning, development, testing and technical support through our solution helps to improve speed, quality and satisfaction across the organization. By using Software-as-a-Service Planview HUB, employees can focus on higher-value, creative tasks as the existing data silos of the tools used are broken down and seamlessly connected in real time. The following inefficient processes were eliminated for our customer: Time wasted due to repetitive data entry into various Agile and DevOps tools, human error due to manual status updates and information handoffs, additional rework due to communication gaps and siloed team structures, decreasing morale due to an inefficient work environment, added manual traceability efforts to meet compliance requirements, and the ongoing need to import and export data for suppliers, customers and contractors. The implementation of this system specifically addresses these weaknesses and enables smoother collaboration, increased productivity and optimized workflows.

The result

Savings of 2,500 hours of manual work and ROI of 150 %

The integration of ServiceNow tools with Microfocus ALM Octane was realized for our customer on the basis of Planview Hub. The proof of concept was created within a few days and discussed with the customer. In addition, the rapid embedding of the existing tool environment in evosoft’s SaaS service was ensured. As a result, 2,600 new objects were created and 22,000 existing objects were modified in the first six months. The time savings achieved through automation in the software processes amounted to 1,230 hours in 6 months, which extrapolates to around 2,500 hours per year and corresponds to the work capacity of 1.5 FTEs (full-time employees). The return on investment is therefore a cost saving of around 150,000 euros per year.
